Frequently asked questions.

What are your rates and do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network practice, which allows us to offer more individualized care and greater appointment flexibility. We are happy to provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Our fees are $250 for an initial evaluation and $150 for follow-up visits. We accept cash, major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA/FSA cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

To ensure fairness and availability to all our patients we do require a 24-hour notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. For late cancellations or missed appointments, you will be responsible for the full appointment fee.

We understand unforeseen circumstances may arise. In case of emergencies, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your situation.

What if I need assistance outside of office hours?

After-Hours Contact Policy
At Slate Psychiatry, we are committed to providing quality care and support to our patients. However, we do not offer 24/7 crisis services. If you need assistance outside of our regular office hours, please follow these guidelines:

  • Non-Urgent Matters: If you have a non-urgent question or need to reschedule an appointment, please leave a voicemail at 817-242-6059 or send a message through our patient portal. We will return your message on the next business day.

  • Prescription Refills: Medication refill requests should be submitted through the patient portal or by calling our office during regular business hours. We do not process refill requests after hours or on weekends.

  • Urgent Mental Health Concerns: If you are experiencing distress but are not in immediate danger, you may contact the 24/7 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 for support.

  • Emergencies: If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, such as thoughts of harming yourself or others, severe medication reactions, or other urgent concerns, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for immediate assistance.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to prioritize your safety and well-being.
